Erratic music and places. Chronologically inconsistent in regard to persons, objects and genres. Conceptually over the edge and idealistic to some extent. Founded in 2015 aboard Hamburg’s MS Stubnitz and present at alternating locations in Bremen since 2016, the noise program offers forms of musical detonation.

Sisterloops: »Broken Cymbals Project«

Sisterloops is a performative sound art and noise duo. The duo was formed in 2013 and is a collaboration between the artists Marie Gavois and Alexandra Nilsson, based in Germany and Sweden. The duo has performed internationally at noise festivals like dESTRUKTIVA in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Queer Noise Fest in Stockholm as well as concert halls such as Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and Stockholm Concert Hall.
Sisterloops’ work explores sounds in combination with movement, action and image. They expose details and frictions by expanding and projecting the tiniest sounds, turning them into harsh and nasty expressions as well as questions about femininity. Intrusively embodying the sound, claiming space with acts in a musical context; they turn severity into wildness. Their performances are dominant, choreographed power with multilayered meanings. Sound contra movement, image contra sound.
Broken Cymbals Project is Sisterloops’ main ongoing project since 2017. With 60 broken cymbals and electronics they produce trashed beats and distorted textures, noisy drones and singing metal. The cymbal is used as instrument, object and scenography.

Sisterloops are nasty academics,
strictly wild, brutally feminine,
we are amplified knives.
