A female captain puts to sea with a crew of hippies, punks and idealists, because thousands of people seeking refuge in Europe are drowning in the Mediterranean. The crew refuses to accept that the EU states have discontinued sea rescue missions and knowingly let people die. They are unreservedly oriented toward complying with universal human rights. When their rescue missions are sabotaged and criminalized, the collusive political game takes on new dimensions. Italian prosecutors are currently investigating the activist Pia Klemp because of her civil rescue mission in the Mediterranean, charging her with ›aiding and abetting illegal immigration‹. Since she can‘t go on rescue missions without the threat of being remanded in custody, she instead takes her fight for love and revolution to the literary floor. In 2019, Pia Klemp was awarded the Clara-Zetkin-Frauenpreis.
