With her single »Aus der Pussy« from 2021, the Vietnamese-German rapper Nashi44 gave a hefty response to the recurring question: “Where are you actually from?” With this cocktail of sensitivity toward anti-Asian racism and vibey club banger, the Neukölln-based artist expressed exactly what many feel. On her EP “Asia Box,” Nashi44 showcases her “Asian Berlin Pussy Power” attitude, confronting her audience with punchlines on cultural appropriation, misogyny and exoticisms, and impressively demonstrating how well challenging issues and danceable sounds can work together.
